In games like Sokoban, you just push the blocks to put them to the desired location while in other games, you have to rotate the blocks.
Rotating them is necessary to guide them in the desired direction. In Bloxorz, for example, you need to rotate a block to make it pass through a hole on the grid. If you do not calculate its trajectory, you'll quickly find yourself blocked.
You do not necessarily have limited time, you can often take the time necessary to get there.
